The history of Taekwondo is still quite young and only goes back to the beginning…
Judo not only keeps you fit, it also promotes self-confidence. However, this is not sufficient for most women in martial arts, because they are also supposed to be used for self-defense. The question of whether judo can be used for women for self-defense can definitely be answered in the affirmative. Because even with little force you can achieve a great effect here.
Why judo is especially suitable for women
Judo is still one of the most popular martial arts in Germany. The sport is also very popular among women and rightly so, we say why:
Little power with great effect
Judo lends itself to that Basic principle of the least possible effort especially for groups of people who have little body weight and have to compensate for this inferiority with better technology. That already brings with it the basic principle of judo. It is “winning by giving in” or “achieving maximum effect with a minimum of effort”. The power of the opponent is used and used against him. Therefore judo is also suitable for children.
Due to the fact that women are on average significantly lighter than men, judo is a very effective martial arts sport for women. However, this does not mean that those of you who weigh a few pounds more are less suitable for judo to learn.
Further advantages through judo training
In contrast to the crash courses for women, where you should only learn the targeted physical defense against the male gender in a few hours, membership in a judo club offers various other advantages. This includes, for example, new social contacts, permanently increased fitness through regular judo training, greater self-confidence and a better feeling for your own body. All of these points will not only propel you forward in martial arts, but will also have a positive influence on your personality in other life situations.
Judo for self defense
There is no special target group where you can use the levers and throws of judo particularly effectively. Rather, these are techniques designed to be effective against any kind of opponent. Judo for women can be used as effective self-defense, even against men. You should not link the effectiveness of the techniques to the male gender, but rather look at it universally.
In an argument against a single opponent, the techniques from the lessons will serve you very well, but should not be used lightly. A throw against a clumsy opponent, for example, can quickly lead to serious fall damage.
And to anticipate one thing, many drop and lever techniques are in the foreground in judo. In karate training, more punching and kicking techniques are (at least felt) integrated into the training. Nevertheless, both martial arts prepare you for a confrontation and make you defensible.
Judo for women for self-defense
Judo for women is ideally suited to defend yourself against male attackers, especially since they usually have far more strength and weight. Compensating for these disadvantages through technique and body control is the main task of the judo school.
